World Press Freedom day: ‘Securing Freedom of Expression in all Media’

fxi logo1The Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) joins the rest of the world in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Windhoek Declaration, what has now come to be known as World Press Freedom day. The FXI continues to support and advocate for ‘free, independent, pluralistic media across all platforms, and believes that such should characterize a free press that is essential to promoting sustainable democracy. This years’ international theme ‘Safe to Speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in all Media’ emphasizes this shared belief and highlights the need to ensure the safety of journalists and media workers, combat impunity of crimes against press freedom and enhance online safety.
